Margaret Hendry School Parents and Citizens Association
The Parents & Citizens Association (P&C) is a group of parents and carers who volunteer their time to work with the principal and the school community in a productive partnership to achieve the best possible outcomes for the students.
Being involved in the P&C is a rewarding experience as you get to work closely with the school and have a say in the focus for fundraising events. There are also opportunities to provide feedback to the school on a variety of topics relevant to the management of the school. It is not the role of the P&C to interfere in the daily running of the school, which is the role of the principal.
The objective of the P&C (from our P&C Constitution):
- To support Margaret Hendry School and the staff members
- Raise and assign money to support learning and educational needs of the school
- Assist in providing facilities and equipment for the school
- Assist and encourage participation of parents and community members.

We’d love your help as volunteers to assist in running these activities.
How to Volunteer
One Off Volunteering
The P&C ask for volunteers to help assist at our disco, Colour Run and Mother's Day and Father's Day Stalls. These events are well organised and you will be shown what to do.
Regular Volunteering
The Second Hand Uniform Shop requires regular volunteers. You are not committed to this role and can stop at any time.
You can email the P&C to let them know what hours you could do, on what days.
Donations
If you are time poor but still want to contribute towards events, the P&C are always needing donations of Mother's Day and Father's Day gifts. If you are donating items on behalf of your business as a thank you, we will promote you on our social media platforms.
The benefits of volunteering include:
- Volunteering creates a resilient community
- Volunteers meet more people
- Volunteers get to give something back
- Volunteering gives you a great sense of purpose
- Volunteers live longer – it's true!
P&C Meetings
The P&C meet once a term, usually in week 1 or 2. The dates and times are reviewed each term.
Our meetings are informal and aim to keep a friendly and school community orientated atmosphere. Attending meetings is a terrific way of finding out what is happening in the school and what is being planned. Meetings are open to all parents and interested citizens of our school.
If you cannot make the meetings this does not mean that you can’t get involved. Your contribution can be as large or small as you can manage, but your ongoing support of the P&C is invaluable.
